Japanese piercing pullsaw by Z-Saw, Japan's #1 sawmaker

These are wonderful saws made by Japan's number 1 sawmaker, Z-Saw. The main picture shows the smaller H-150 Piercing saw complete with handle, while the next shows the blade on its own. The third picture is of the larger H-240 Piercing saw and handle, and the fourth shows this blade alone. The fifth picture shows the secret of these blades: a "woodpecker" tooth at the front of the blade. These brilliant blades allow you to start a cut in the centre of a panel without pre-drilling, as shown in the final image. This can be extremely useful for cutting out damaged tongue and groove boards, or indeed for making doors in dolls' houses and the like: the piece cut out can have hinges attached and will then fit neatly into the hole from which it came.
All blades are easily replaceable, and even finer-cutting blades are also available in my eBay shop.

The other saw I have used a lot is the little one for cutting holes in a panel. It also cuts into the oak very well and with its tiny kerf was just spot on for awkward cuts in confined spaces. You might laugh to see it being used to alter a mortise on a 10 foot beam rather than in cabinet work but it was very handy. I have also used it grafting in pieces on old floor boards in my house of the 1830's."
